Cartagena Memory

January in Portugal felt cold and grey, and I found myself longing for colour and light. It brought me back to a trip in 2015, a backpacking journey through South America, where Cartagena stayed in my memory for its intensity of colour and the quality of its light.

From that memory came the hunched character, carrying both a backpack and the weight of that experience. The colours and atmosphere of Cartagena slipped directly into the drawing, becoming part of its construction.

Revisiting this memory transformed something internal into an image. A reminder that sometimes we all need a little light on grey days.
